Hi, Candice,
Gwyneth's mesmerisingly beautiful, has a superb sense of style, is
thoughtful, dedicated to her work, and had a cool mom and dad. Your mention
of her had me recall comparing her 'Emma' performance with UK's own Kate
Beckinsale's 'Emma' in 1997 [A&E]. Paltrow's film preceded the Beckinsale,
and to me its beauty's profoundly memorable; Gwyneth plays Emma as
relatively more gentle [and probably was directed to bring out more humour
and lightness in that role] than Kate. Ultimately, though, I felt that the
Beckinsale version, for all of its actors and their superior 'chemistry' as
well as its pacing and fidelity to the novel, was superior to the Paltrow
film----but both presentations are notable and well worth viewing. BTW, A&E
has a boxed set [1997] of 'Pride and Prejudice', 'Emma', 'Victoria and
Albert', 'Tom Jones', 'Jane Eyre', 'Lorna Doone', 'Ivanhoe', and 'The
Scarlet Pimpernel', starting at $55 at amazon.com.
Further, here's a fascinating [YouTube] Charlie Rose interview of Gwyneth
and her 'Emma' director Doug McGrath [interesting insights, humour] in 1999.
Just skip past [if you want] the first 29 minutes [interview with Mira
Sorvino] to get to Paltrow and McGrath:

Enjoy!
