Daniel, and list members,
NESTA FameLab has a YouTube Channel - www.youtube.com/famelab - which
has an archive of promos, vodcasts and showreels from previous years of
NESTA FameLab and from this year the channel will also feature a
playlist with 2009's video entries and sample audition videos.
The channel receives good traffic and is embedded in our official
website www.famelab.org.
Our hope is that the channel will provide a body of entertaining and
informative science communication videos online as well as showcase the
country's best new science communicators and allow people to follow this
year's competition as it unfolds.
As this is the first year that we have used the channel in this way we
have no evaluation of it as of yet. In terms of funding, NESTA FameLab
is run in the UK in partnership with NESTA (the National Endowment for
Science, Technology and the Arts) and is supported by Channel 4 and the
British Council.

Subject: [PSCI-COM] Youtube and Science Communication
Hi PSCI-commers,
I'm interested in looking at science communication activies on Youtube
as part
of my Masters research but am unaware of what has been / is being done
by
practitioners.
I've been active producing content on the site myself
(www.youtube.com/TheProfessorFunk) but have yet to come across many
other examples that aim to use the medium to generate dialogue.
I'm mainly keen on any activities that have been formally evaluated or
funded
by organisations - but really any examples of sci-com on the tube would
be
also be helpful.
Your help is greatly appreciated,
Daniel Keogh
