Dear All,
Re the Silver Valley Mine and the adjoining Wheal Brothers Mine (near
Callington), can anyone advise which of these mines used the following shaft names:
Oak Shaft and Murray's Shaft. During an 1852 working, both these mines
looked to have been worked together... certainly by Co. name, though simultaneous
working might not be the case - 1852 MJ ref. and entries always clearly
quotes in order, so I am making a calculated guess that they might be 'in order'
so to speak as two separate opers..
East Wheal Brothers I know is one of the names used for Harrow Barrow Mine,
but does anyone know which mine the West Wheal Brothers name would apply to???
The 1890 OS map shows two Wh.Fortunes in the area! - but these are East of
Harrow Barrow Mine! - more correctly NE I suppose. So, might possibly West
Wh.Bros. refer to either the East Cornwall St Vincent Mine or Wh.Langford???
Any help would be much appreciated please. This has been driving me mad for
years!
Regards, Bernard
