Hello Jude
On a similar note we are also looking for the last case study for our
day on
E-Learning: engaging users - users engaging on 19 May 2009
http://www.elearninggroup.org.uk/?page_id=57
2 or the 3 Databurst slots are also still open.
We have had a few people get in touch recently with proposals for
sessions, not all of which are appropriate. Let me know if you would
like to share ideas.
Best wishes
Martin

Subject: The Social Media Exchange for Cultural and Heritage Sector
Hi,
I have just joined this forum so I want to apologise in advance for
perhaps
covering a topic that could also be found in the archives.
I run sounddelivery a social media production and training company
working
with charities, museum and heritage sites and the not-for-profit sector.
In January sounddelivery organised the Social Media Exchange
www.socialmediaexchange.org.uk a social media training event attended by
over 150 people from the charitable sector. We are now organising a
similar kind of event for staff who work in these areas. This will be
taking place in London on June 1st. The event is a mixture of
masterclass
sessions, practical surgery sessions and a debate.
We've already lined up some great masterclass speakers but there are a
couple of areas that need covering. I'm looking for dynamic speakers
who
are using social media in really innovative ways in their organisations
-
and not just the usual suspects. The event is peer-led so we're really
looking for people working in museum and heritage sites who can give a
warts
and all overview of how they are using social media in certain areas.
There
might be people you have come across who you particularly admire/respect
-
or specific museums who are being particularly imaginative.
The masterclasses are 40 minutes in length
These are the areas we're particularly interested in looking at:
* The Power of Video - from reviews/to postings/how museums are
harnessing video
* Getting Savvy with Social Networks - any organisation or museum
being
particular innovative with social networks or someone with an overview
of
how different organisations are harnessing social networks
* Building up a Social Media presence from scratch (on a budget) -
particularly looking for a small to medium size organisation.
* Digitising Collections
* Digital Storytelling
* Using Social Media To Tackle The Learning Agenda
- I've got a twitter expert for a surgery session but it would be great
to
hear from someone who is using Twitter in a museum or heritage context
and
can perhaps do a show and tell session on twitter.
If any of you have come across advertising agencies who are working with
museums in a creative way that would be interesting for another part of
the
day.
If you want any further information about the evnet - do get in touch -
we're sending out detailed information next week.
Thanks very much for you help.
