Forgot to say, in my previous e-mail, we've also been publishing metadata about our objects as RSS for about a year now. See http://eatyourgreens.org.uk/archives/2008/04/opening_up_muse.html
A single item in one of our RSS feeds has the object title, description, maker, date made/publication info, materials, place made and thumbnail image. Here's a feed of paintings by Charles Pears:
http://www.nmm.ac.uk/collections/requestHandlers/doQuickSearch.cfm?searchterm=&authority=people&category=162452&startrow=1&format=rss
For developers and programmers who might be interested in working with our collection, these feeds can also be accessed via Yahoo Query Language (YQL). See http://eatyourgreens.org.uk/archives/2009/03/opening-up-data-with-yql.html
Feel free to get in touch with me if you're interested in working with this data.
