Open to applicants for MSc by Research or PhD programmes for their first
year of study. This £5000 scholarship is funded through the Philip
LeverhulmePrize awarded to Dr Jill Burke in 2008, and research projects
can be on any aspect of renaissance visual arts or culture (c1400-1600)
that can be supervised by Dr Burke

supervision with colleagues in History of Art or other disciplines (eg
History, English Literature, European Languages, Divinity, History of
Architecture or Music) is welcomed, but candidates must apply through
History of Art.
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake a small amount of
research assistance under the supervision of Dr Burke (the equivalent of
a maximum of 4 hours per week) and to participate in the activities of
the new Edinburgh Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies.
Applications are considered in conjunction with the University
admissions application. The successful applicant will receive a bursary
of £5000. The scholarship may be held in conjunction with other sources
of funding. Deadline 29 May 2009. Late applications can not be considered.
