The International Journal Of Work, Organisation and Emotion
The International Journal Of Work, Organisation and Emotion is a fully peer reviewed journal that aims to act as a focal point for the dissemination of theoretical and empirical developments in the areas of emotion, embodiment and aesthetics as they relate to the organisation of work and society.
Now in its fifth year, the journal has recently transferred to the editorship of Dr Philip Hancock (University of Warwick, UK) and Dr Melissa Tyler (Loughborough University, UK). It is currently inviting articles that contribute to our understanding of the processes and practices of the emotional, embodied and aesthetic dimensions of work and organisation. The coverage of IJWOE includes, but is by no means limited to, the following areas:
Emotional labour and emotion work
Emotional intelligence
Emotion and social organisation
The emotional and embodied nature of research
Play and pleasure at work and beyond
Organisational corporeality
Body work
Aesthetic labour
As well as these substantive areas, the journal particularly invites submissions that explore, in a critical fashion and in relation to emotion and embodiment, topics such as:
The political economy of work
The changing nature of work and organisation
Commodification and exploitation
Gender and sexuality
Control and resistance
Performativity
Organisational, cultural and economic inequality
Methodological innovation
Work deriving from a range of disciplinary fields, including management and organisational analysis, gender studies, sociology, psychology, political economy, and more practitioner-orientated traditions such as Human Resource Management and Occupational Health amongst others are welcome. As an international journal it also encourages the submission of research that explores how emotional and embodied processes are experienced, managed, controlled and resisted across a range of national and cultural contexts.
