Applications sought for Associate Editor of International Journal of Workplace
Health Management
Emerald Group Publishing Limited invites applications for the position of
Associate Editor to manage psychologically healthy workplace/ occupational
stress papers for International Journal of Workplace Health Management.
Scope of IJWHM:
International Journal of Workplace Health Management considers workplace
health from both the wider public health perspective, and the perspective of
the individual organization. Workplace health and related issues are discussed
in the context of three key guiding principles:
• Individual health - to include primary prevention, behaviour
modification, attitudes and lifestyle choice, health education, health
promotion, and how to motivate people
• Workplace culture - to include management policies and procedures,
communication systems, training opportunities, and work-life balance, and the
effect this has on morale and well-being
• Physical work issues - to include musculoskeletal health/ergonomics
as well as health and safety legislation and occupational health, how effective
policies are, and the level of compliance
The International Journal of Workplace Health Management publishes:
• Peer-reviewed research articles on all aspects of workplace health,
enabling the reader to identify risks and challenges and learn from best
practice
• Practical advice via in-depth case studies, presenting simple
practical solutions to workplace problems
• Real-life implications for the individual, the employer, and public
health systems in general.

• Promoting compliance with workplace health legislation

Qualifications and requirements of candidates:
Key qualities sought for the positions of Associate Editor are an established
record of scholarship in the field of psychological health in the workplace/
occupational stress; managerial skills to oversee the editorial cycle and meet
the deadlines and an appreciation of IJWHM’s editorial objective to publish
research of practical relevance.
Major Associate Editor responsibilities include:
• Managing the review process for papers dealing with or emanating
from a particular region or country
• Encouraging the submission of articles for the subject (written by
self or contacts)
• Providing occasional guest Editorials/viewpoints/comments
• Representing and promoting the journal at conferences and to
interested colleagues/contacts.
• Guest editing a special or themed issues for the journal
IJWHM will use the online submission system, Manuscript Central in 2009. The
new associate editor will receive full training and support.
Recruitment Procedure:
Applications will be reviewed by the Publisher and the current editorial team
immediately after the deadline for applications.
