It was a Vision (INPS) specific problem and I have posted to the NVUG list
and am waiting for a response. Basically the query which populates a pretty
looking table (the date in columns and the haematological and biochemical
parameters chosen by me in rows) is unable to distinguish between platelets
and the (largely useless) mean platelet volume. So an otherwise very
functional table gets spoiled.
For what it is worth I found the following causes for variations of mean
platelet volume:
Large Platelets: Macrothrombocytes (MPV >10 fl):
---------------
Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura
Bernard-Soulier Disease
May-Hegglin Anomaly
Small Platelets: Microthrombocytes (MPV <6 fl)
---------------
Aplastic Anemia
Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome
Thrombocytopenia-absent radii (TAR Syndrome)
Storage Pool Disease
Notwithstanding this I have never had reason to request this test or to act
on any of the frequently abnormal results.
Laurie

Where should it have gone? And what is the answer?
