The successful candidate will be part of a small team developing bespoke GIS-
based web applications and providing support to our customers. You will be
encouraged to contribute fully to the team and your ideas and contribution will
have a direct impact on the company’s success.
Your main responsibility will initially be to help support and continue the
development of existing systems and continue building existing customer
relationships.
Extensive and demonstrable experience of open-source Geographical
Information Systems using server- and client-side programming languages is a
key requirement for this role.
Duties and Responsibilities
•To design and develop our GIS-based tools.
•To help design and develop the relational database systems and integrate
these with these tools.
•To develop management strategies for handling large volumes of raster and
vector-based geographical information.
•To assist in the planning of overall company strategy regarding application
and web development.
Skills / Attributes Required
•Qualified to Degree level or above.
•Proven GIS development experience.
•Very strong knowledge of server-side development using PHP and MySQL.
•Experience of MapServer, MapInfo, MapBasic, MS Excel and MS Access.
•Experience of developing web sites using Javascript, HTML and AJAX.
•Experience of using Ordnance Survey digital maps in an online environment
will be an advantage.
•A good understanding of projection systems, particularly for the UK and
Europe.
•A flexible attitude with proven experience of working in a small team on web-
based projects.
•Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
•A desire to be fully involved.
