Unfortunately this information cannot be recovered from the maximum of the
path distribution. The maximum of the path distribution is the value in the
voxel with the highest number of samples that run through it. This is
different from the total number of samples that are sent out from the ROI
(if it was one ROI tractography) or the total number of samples that reached
the target (if it was two ROI tractography), as not all samples need to pass
through a specific voxel. If you used one ROI tractography, you can recover
the waytotal by finding the total number of samples that were sent out (#vox
in ROI * #of samples sent out per voxel). If samples need to pass through
multiple ROIs you will need to rerun the tractography.
Peace,
Matt.

Subject: [FSL] Waytotal
Howdy-
If probtrackx was run with an earlier version and the output did not
include the 'waytotal' text file, can that information be recovered? Is
it not simply the upper limit of `fslstats fdt_paths.nii.gz -R`?
Thanks,
