Apologies for Cross-Posting -
The Role of Labour Standards in Sustainable Development: Theory in Practice
Conference at the British Academy, 24 - 25 April 2009
10 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1
The language of 'sustainable development' is both exceptionally malleable
and extraordinarily influential. This conference examines significant
changes in how this term has been understood and applied, with specific
reference to its application to the promotion of labour standards. The
intention is to consider whether the objective of sustainable development
is one which should be linked to the promotion of labour standards, and, if
so, through what mechanisms this goal could be achieved.
This is an interdisciplinary event, the aim of which is to test academic
theories against the views of those engaged in the practical aspects of
development.
