Dear Charlotte,
I hope my previous answer may assist but in terms of your questions here I've just thought of some possible helpful contacts. Charlie Weiss (Cambridge) with extensive website where he stores links to these is on the handout I sent you, James Robson was involved with the OU development.
You can test languages inside a VLE using their online tests modules providing you structure very carefully what you have students do - e.g. parsing has to follow a very specific order input into separate answer boxes or it gets marked wrong. The two best people to advise on this 'do it yourself' aspect of letting students test using Blackboard and some commercial software are Jennifer Ingleheart (Durham) and Genevieve Liveley (Bristol) respectively. In terms of CAL stuff, you've asked the right list, but I suspect you may not want to learn to programme to do this!
Best,
Eleanor

Subject: [DIGITALCLASSICIST] Language
Two questions:
1. Is there a place (or are three places) where I can find information on all the online resources to support the teaching of Latin and Ancient Greek?
2. Is there a site where students can test themselves? We have a problem with students who turn up - eg to do an MA course - after patchy language teaching, uncertain of what level they are at. Is there a place where they could assess themselves?
3. Are there sites which offer the tools with which to build language testing materials?
Many thanks
Charlotte
