Dear all
The Confucius Institute in Manchester is pleased to announce an
upcoming talk by Chinese author Yu Dan, whose forthcoming book, From
the Heart: The Secrets of Confucius, will be published in the UK by
Pan Macmillan on 1st May.
In the autumn of 2006, Yu Dan, a professor of media studies at Beijing
Normal University, gave a series of lectures on Confucius which was
broadcast on China Central Television. Her highly personal
interpretation of Confucian thought was rapturously received, and the
transcripts were edited into a book and published. By September of the
following year the book had sold over 4 million legal copies in China
and an estimated 6 million pirated ones, remaining at the top of the
Chinese bestseller lists today. Also known as ‘The Beauty Professor’,
Yu Dan is now a household name in China.
Yu Dan will be speaking about her new book on Wednesday 22nd April,
from 2.30 – 3.30, at the John Thaw Studio in the Martin Harris Centre.
A book signing will follow the event.
All are welcome, however places must be reserved through the Confucius
Institute. For more information or to reserve a place please contact
me on 0161 275 8667 or at [log in to unmask]
Kind regards
Emily
