Description:
This panel will discuss the degree to which the wartime generation has
influenced postwar historical memory debates in East Asia. Panel
participants will utilize crucial source documents such as oral histories,
autobiographies, government surveys, memoirs, museum collections, and
postwar publications of wartime documents in order to examine the
differences between how those who experienced the war narrate it and how
it is publicly remembered.
