Dear all
Can I draw your attention to the Joint East Asian Studies Conference,
which will be held in Sheffield 8-10 September this year? This is a
joint enterprise between the British Associations of Chinese, Japanese
and Korean Studies, and offers an opportunity to catch up not only with
your colleagues in Chinese Studies but also our counterparts working on
Japan and Korea. On the China side, the distinguished sociologist,
Professor Fan Ke from Nanjing will be attending the conference to give a
keynote speech.
We are happy to consider paper proposals on any topic. The Joint East
Asian Studies Conferences I have been to in the past (at Edinburgh and
Leeds) have all been very enjoyable and successful, and I encourage
everyone to come and participate. We will also be holding our BACS
annual general meeting as part of the Conference, and look forward to
members participating in that and presenting their ideas about what BACS
is doing and should do.
As I know that some of you have found difficulties in accessing the
information through the BACS and BAJS websites, I attach a call for
papers. Further information can be found on the BACS website and also
at http://www.bajs.org.uk/JEASC%20Announce.doc. The deadline for
proposals is now 16 April 2009
I hope to see you there.
Best wishes
Tim Wright
President, BACS
