You will support the management of the Central Library through to and beyond
the delivery of the Library of Birmingham in June 2013. It is one of five posts in
a team embedded within the Central Library structure to provide
developmental support as we move towards a major new public library and
archive facility in Birmingham. You will have an enthusiasm for innovation in
the delivery of library and archive services; a willingness to experiment and a
passion for transformational change. You will also be knowledgeable or
experienced in the delivery of public services in an Archives context.

Archivist
£24,331 - £30,456 per annum
Fixed Term Vacancy: For 12 months

Birmingham Archives & Heritage has been awarded a grant by the National
Cataloguing Grants Programme for Archives to complete the cataloguing of the
extensive company records of John Hardman & Company. Founded in
Birmingham in 1838 by John Hardman and the Gothic Revival designer and
architect A.W.N. Pugin, the firm were leading manufacturers of stained glass
and ecclesiastical furnishings and exported all over the world. We require an
Archivist for 12 months to work on the Hardman archive. You will be qualified
with experience of cataloguing archives. Effective communication and team
working skills are also essential. You will be based in our Collections
Development Team of 9 Archivists, 2 Librarians and 6 Cataloguing Assistants.
