‘Archives and the Heritage Lottery Fund: Working with Young People’
The Archives for Education and Learning Group of the Society of Archivists
and the National Council on Archives, in partnership with the Heritage Lottery
Fund, are running a one-day event at the British Library on Monday 6 April
2009 (10am – 4pm).
• Would you like to learn more about planning projects involving young
people?
• Would you like to hear more about how the Heritage Lottery Fund has
supported work with young people?
• Would you like to know about how to apply for the Heritage Lottery
Fund’s ‘Your Heritage’ and ‘Young Roots’ programmes?
This event is aimed at archivists looking to work with young people, archive
education officers looking for funding opportunities, educators seeking to work
with archives, or anyone with a general interest in how to encourage young
people to use archives.
The day will include a mixture of presentations and workshop sessions. In
addition delegates will be able to discuss project ideas with staff from the
Heritage Lottery Fund and the National Council on Archives’ Archive Lottery
Adviser.
Case study speakers include Stephen Escritt from Whitechapel Art Gallery who
will talk about Archive Adventures, a Your Heritage project and from a youth
organisation perspective Shirley Day who will tell us about Hoxne Gold, a
Young Roots project.
A full programme of the day will be available shortly.
The event costs £35 for members of the Society of Archivists and £40 for non
members. Booking forms are available from the Society of Archivists website
