Hi Dorothy,
There is a range of lighting available through RNIB's online shop to
give you a starting point
(http://onlineshop.rnib.org.uk/browse.asp?n=11&c=41&sc=101&it=1&l=3).
We also produce a factsheet that might be helpful for you:

My understanding is that people would normally be referred to a low
vision clinic to have an assessment of their specific needs for
lighting. This gives the opportunity to try a range of different lights
to help them decide which is the most suitable for their specific
condition.
If you would like more information, I could ask our products team to
contact you?
I hope this is helpful.
Kind regards
Jon

Subject: task lighting to suit pupils with a visual loss - query
Would be grateful for information on specific suppliers/specification of
task
lighting more suited to use by pupils with a visual loss in a school
setting?
Earliest feedback would be gratefully received.
Kind regards,
Dorothy
