Hi Dorothy,
I would also try RNIB in the UK.
They have general guidelines on lighting (including task lighting) at the
following link
http://www.rnib.org.uk/xpedio/groups/public/documents/publicwebsite/public_r
nib003619.hcsp
Contact details for their regional resource centres, where you may be able
to ask someone where to buy appropriate lamps, can be found at the following
link
http://www.rnib.org.uk/xpedio/groups/public/documents/PublicWebsite/public_r
esourcecentre.hcsp
When I worked for RNIB in their London office, the staff in the resource
centre there were wonderful for this sort of query, so a quick phone call
might be worthwhile.
All the best,
Antoinette

Hi Dorothy,
I'd definitely try Thomas Pocklington Trust, which does a lot of work
and guidance on lighting.
Regards,
Henry

Would be grateful for information on specific suppliers/specification of
task
lighting more suited to use by pupils with a visual loss in a school
setting?
Earliest feedback would be gratefully received.
Kind regards,
Dorothy
