Six part-time positions are now available for Fellows of the College to lead the development of the new National Laboratory Medicine Catalogue. Funding is available to recompense Trusts for any consequent loss of consultant time at an anticipated (average) rate of one day per week per person.
Information about the Catalogue, job descriptions, person specifications and instructions for applicants are all available at http://www.rcpath.org/index.asp?PageID=1585
In brief, this is an exciting new project to define a single list of what laboratory tests are offered by the NHS and to develop advice on their appropriate use. The subsequent step will be to define routes for evaluating new tests, to keep the catalogue up to date.
We intend to appoint one overall clinical lead and five specialty leads.
The closing date for applications is the end of Thursday 2 April 2009.
