Dear AACORNers,
may I take the opportunity to inform you about two recent works of mine, in a way or another related to the world of arts:
1. A book (in English) on Cultural Heritage in China: Y. Guo. L. Zan, S. Liu, The Management of Cultural Heritage in China. General trends and a micro-focus on the Luoyang municipality, Egea, Milano, 2008.
A print-on-demand version of the book is available, 20 €, on the damn publisher’s web site (http://www.egeaonline.it/ITA/Catalogo/Scheda_prodotto.aspx?ISBN=DAM0000000069). Unfortunately the English website is still under construction, and you probably need someone a bit familiar with Italian to get to the end.
“This book focuses on the analysis of change processes regarding managerial aspects in the processes of archeological discoveries, restoration, museum definition and access to cultural heritage in China. The focus is not per se on the archeological discoveries in their historical and artistic meanings, nor on the conservation and restoration in their technical, scientific, and methodological repercussions; nor finally on the evolution of the museology per se. Rather, the core of the analysis, the specific perspective is on how these dynamics pose new managerial problems and address new solutions.
The first part of the book reconstructs the context of the normative evolution at the central and peripheral level (provinces) which is relevant for any organization operating in China cultural heritage sector, plus a discussion about the evolution and professional debates at the national level within various activities involved.
The second part provides an in-depth micro view, focused on Luoyang municipality, one of the historical capital cities in ancient China for thirteen dynasties. Drawing on a general management perspective, both the point of view of the Cultural Relics Bureau as a centre of the municipal level, and in-depth case histories of individual organizations in the area are investigated.”
2. Should the reading (or the downloading) of this book become too tiring, a second option is at http://cdbaby.com/cd/actravellers: enjoy!!!
Ciao
Luca
