At-Bristol is the home of Explore, the world class hands-on science centre and Planetarium, in the heart of the West Country. 

Laboratory and Projects Officer (ref: LPO)
£20,000 - 24,000
Permanent
37.5 per week, normally Monday to Friday, however at times may be requirement to work 5 out of 7 days 

Our Learning department are looking for an enthusiastic Laboratory and Projects Officer to develop and co-ordinate core programmes and special funded projects which are delivered in our laboratory spaces. These include school workshops, public events and teacher CPD sessions. You will manage laboratories and support spaces, including all aspects of Health and safety, inputting into development of the on-going programme and the strategic objectives of At-Bristol's laboratory-based offer.

You will also be working on a variety of At-Bristol's learning exciting projects for our audiences and involved in the content areas associated with our Exhibitions (science and technology, natural history and the environment) together with developing 'lifelong learning and skills' in associated areas such as citizenship, new media and the arts.

Informal Learning Communicator (ref: ILC)

Salary scale: £15,000 - £18,000 (pro rata)
Temporary 6 months (with possibility of being permanent after 6 months review)
Part-time (2.5 days per week)
 
Learning Communicators (informal) are responsible for the development and delivery of At-Bristol's Learning programme to public groups including families, adults and community groups. 

Key tasks
·         Research and development of new programme content including shows, workshops and other facilitated activity.
·         Learning and presenting workshops, shows and other events to school and community groups, families and other members of the public
·         Researching new content and sourcing equipment for planned workshops and events on a project-by-project basis

Experience and Knowledge
·         Excellent presentation skills
·         Experience of working with young people, families and schools is essential
·         Experience of working in an informal learning environment is desirable
·         Good general knowledge of science, technology and environmental issues covered by At-Bristol's exhibitions is desirable
·         Educated to degree level or with relevant experience is desirable
·         Understanding of the UK education system and National Curriculum is desirable
