Alison and Doug, a thousand apologies. That was intended for the trash
and for the record is a position I cannot agree to.
Anyway, now it is out, all I was trying to do was set up a three persona
situation in which all three are placed in positions they cannot agree
to and against their wishes. This was the only way I could get close to
get the abstract picture of three way conflict. Then it should have hit
the trash, as intended.
The question then becomes, for me, one of how does the century of
conflict we still live in affect lyric poetry? Given that the abstract
three way conflict is a dialogic novel poetics (Bakhtin) does conflict
have also some role in flattening lyric verse? Also, trying to think up
possible ways around this?
Best, Chris Jones.
