There is absolutely no need to bring the employee back for a scar check
as documentary evidence of them having the BCG is sufficient evidence of
vaccination and not the scar check.
At the time of vaccination the employee should be advised about reported
unexpected symptoms/ side effects including secondary site infections,
suspected keloid formation and so on.

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] BCG Scar Checking
Hi All
Just a quick query to those of you that administer the BCG vaccine. Does
anybody bring their clients back to check if the vaccination has formed
a scar after administration? In my previous post we used to do this, but
in the spirit of evidence based practice I am unable to find any reason
why! Indeed, the Green Book states that 'Further observation after
routine vaccination with BCG is not necessary' (page 400).
Thanks
Michael
