Telephone exchanges had a very large diesel electric generator to cope
with power blackouts. This would have a corresponding fuel tank.
In terms of the actual exchange itself, its just a load of electro-
mechanical switches, so I wouldn't expect a great deal; maybe some
asbestos lagging/insulation (seems to be everywhere in buildings of a
certain age); possibly some lubricating oils for the moving parts.
