Applications are invited for the first two seminars in the 2009 programme of
QMSS 2 – Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences 2, a Research
networking Programme of the European Science Foundation. There is no
registration fee for attending the seminars, and accommodation and meal
costs are met by the organisers, who are also able to contribute to the
travel costs of between 10-15 participants.
1. Call for papers: Seminar “Multi-attribute analysis and projection of
ethnic populations”
Jevnaker, Norway from 3 – 5 June 2009
Applications are invited for the above seminar, organized by the Immigration
and population dynamics group of QMSS 2.
The aim of the seminar is to present state-of-the-art research on methods
for analysing and projecting ethnic/minority populations, with a focus on
measurement and identification issues of these populations.
Applications for attendance should be received by 15 March 2009.

2. Call for papers:
Seminar “Quality and Comparability of Measures for Constructs in Comparative
Research: Methods and Applications”
Bolzano (Bozen), Italy
10-13 June 2009
This seminar, organized by the Crossnational comparisons group of QMSS 2
deals with the problem of the comparability of subjective and objective
measures for theoretical concepts in cross–national and longitudinal research.
Topics to be covered will include: Schwartz Human Value scale; Social and
political Trust; Media use or exposure to specific topics in the media;
Background variables: occupation, income and education.
Deadline for applications is 15 April 2009.
