Applications are invited for the first tranche of postgraduate studentships, which will help shape the UK's low carbon future.
Funded with 6.5m GBP from EPSRC, the Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) will train 50 postgraduate students between 2009 and 2017. Each student will undertake a 4-year integrated programme of an MSc in Energy followed by a PhD. The DTC will be at the heart of a new 14.8m GBP energy research building and will bring together a sizeable cohort of postgraduate research students and supervisors. The focus will be on developing innovative approaches for a low carbon future, around interlinking research themes:
* Transport & Energy
* Low Carbon Enabling Technologies
* Carbon Storage
* Climate Change & Energy Systems Research
There are 6 studentships available in this round (for study commencing September 2009) and the application deadline is 24th April 2009. The studentships include tuition fees plus a maintenance grant of 15,500 GBP per annum (tax free) for UK candidates. EU candidates are eligible for fees-only.
