WE'RE BACK!!!
Last years series of seminars on recovery were so sucessful that the Foundation for the Sociology of Health and Illness (our major sponsor) agreed that we could extend the series into Spring 2009.
As with our series last year, we aim to facilitate a series of seminars which explore the meaning of "recovery" and attempt to uncover the different ways in which people achieve it. The full list of this Spring's seminars is:
25th February - David Best (Reader in Criminal Justice, University of the West of Scotland) - Mapping routes to recovery: the role of recovery groups & communities
18th March - Alex Baldacchino (Snr. Clinical Lecturer & Consultant Psychiatrist in Addiction) & Brian Kidd (Snr. Clinical Lecturer & Consultant Psychiatrist in Addiction) - Recovery, a clinical reality
25th March - Mark Gilman (NW Regional Manager, National Treatment Agency for Substance Misuse) - NW. ROIS: Recovery Oriented Integrated Systems in North-West England
8th April - Wendy Dawson (Chief Executive, Ley Community) - Residential treatment as a method of intervention (includes a complete showing of the highly-acclaimed BBC drama The Programme).
I attach a flyer for the first seminar of the series. Please feel free to bring this to the attention of friends and colleagues who may be interested. All seminars are free of charge and open to anyone with an interest in addiction and recovery.
As with previous Pathways to Recovery seminars, all presentations will be recorded and uploaded to the online radio for you to use in the future. Full details of the Spring 2009 seminars - including abstracts, speaker CVs etc. will be available on the Pathways to Recovery website shortly.
