The Starlink git repository is now live. You can check it out
(read/write) with:
% git clone git://starlink.jach.hawaii.edu/starlink.git
The repository browser is at:
http://starlink.jach.hawaii.edu/git/?p=starlink.git;a=summary
I have also converted the JAC Starlink web site to a wiki to make it
easier to write down notes about the git migration. If you want write
access to the wiki contact me (David, Peter, Malcolm and Brad will get
accounts - you will be contacted).
I've put up a couple of pages to help with git:
Quick introduction:
http://starlink.jach.hawaii.edu/starlink/GitPrimer
Policies and procedures:
http://starlink.jach.hawaii.edu/starlink/GitPolicies
They can be expanded as questions turn up. The only branches
transferred from svn were the release branches. All others were dropped.
Anyone intending to commit should read both.
For historical interest I created two additional Starlink git
repositories, both with full branch history.
- The complete svn:
http://starlink.jach.hawaii.edu/git/?p=starlink-allsvn.git;a=summary
- A new translation of the original CVS repository:
http://starlink.jach.hawaii.edu/git/?p=starlink-fromoldcvs.git;a=summary
They are both readonly but you can check them out and create patch sets if
there is anything interesting. There are some strange differences between
the two when comparing CVS-branch history because CVS is very vague about
branches.
The outstanding visible issue is that .gitignore files have not yet been
committed so if you do a build git will think there are many new
interesting files.
There is also an issue with vendor branches that I will discuss with
Peter.
Keep an eye out for any oddities. No more commits to subversion please
(you can still browse the old viewvc repository at the JAC).
