Alison, thanks for the heads-up; I tend not to keep up consistently with
anyone's blogs, oh lazy me.
A dissertation review! I get the feeling that, for you, and probably for
many, the phenomenal music/musicians grabbed centre stage, but that a unity
seemed missing in the directing/staging itself. Strong works do generate
strong - and disagreeing - adherents, so widely differing interpretations
and productions, as well as negative critiques, seem inevitable.
Nothing, I think, would ever draw me to see Woyzeck, so I'm pleased that
you've enabled my stubborn laziness while increasing my information stash.
