What type of lighting is she working under?
Some years ago I was working in Germany in an office with no natural
lighting and fluorescent strip lights only. After a month or so I started to
suffer from headaches, tired and red eyes.
When I saw the opthalmologist his very first question was about the
lighting. His immediate response then was to specify slightly tinted lenses.
His comment was that he saw numerous cases similar to mine.
The tinted lenses completely resolved the problem.
Remember that this type of lighting is in reality a series of flashes,
although these are so close together that the brain perceives this as
continuous light. However, it can raise problems. We had an accident in a
factory while I was in Germany where the stroboscopic effect of the lighting
made it look as if a piece of rotating equipment was standing still!
I would suggest that tinted glasses could be what the optician meant rather
than "dark".
