‘...ever so glad to get your letter...’ On theorising epistolary narratives of the
quotidian, the commonplace and the extraordinary.
Call for papers
Submissions for papers are requested for the above day conference. Each
session will comprise of 25 minutes for the presentation of the papers with 5
minutes for questions.
This conference will be of interest to psychologists, sociologists and a wide
range of health and social care professionals concerned with or interested in
narrative and issues surrounding memory. The ‘Ordinary Lives’ of people has
been selected as the focus of this year’s conference and papers that explore
any aspect of the relationship between narrative and ‘ordinary life’ are
welcome. The conference seeks to explore a variety of theoretical and
methodological issues such as:
• How are the narrative construction of identity(ies) are shaped in written
exchanges.
• How are the dimensions of ordinary lives are narrated and represented.
• How individuals narrate the self and interpret past experiences as part of
their daily experiences in ‘ordinary’ settings.
• The creation of organisational narratives and their impact on working life.
• Ordinary life and mental health.
Submission of abstracts
Abstracts of no more that 250 words (including name, title, affiliation, address
and e-mail) by e-mail only (Word.doc or .rtf please) to conference
