A postdoc position in Theoretical Chemical Physics is available in the research
group of Prof. Michael Thoss at the Institute for Theoretical Physics,
Interdisciplinary Center for Molecular Materials of the University of Erlangen-
Nuernberg, Germany.
The research project involves the theoretical investigation of charge transfer
processes at surfaces and interfaces with applications to organic
photovoltaics. Topics include the characterization of dye molecules at
surfaces using electronic structure calculations, the modeling and dynamical
simulation of photoinduced charge and energy transfer processes at dye-
semiconductor interfaces and in donor-acceptor dyades, as well as the
simulation and analysis of stationary and time-resolved spectra. The project is
embedded in a collaborative initiative on ‘Inorganic-organic hybrid materials for
solar cells’ funded by the Federal Ministry of Research and Education and
involves close collaboration with experimental groups from laser physics,
physical and organic chemistry as well as material science.
Some recent papers related to the project are:
I. Kondov et al. J. Phys. Chem. C 111, 11970 (2007)
J. Li et al. J. Phys. Chem. C 112, 12326 (2008)
The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extension for up
to three years upon mutual agreement. The salary will be according to the
German standard (E13).
Applicants should hold a PhD in theoretical physics or theoretical chemistry
and have substantial experience with electronic structure calculations for
extended systems (in particular surfaces) and/or excited electronic states.
Furthermore, a background in quantum reaction dynamics and programming
skills will be of advantage.
Interested candidates are invited to send their application including a CV, list
of publications, a statement of qualifications relevant for the position, and
names and contact information of three references to the address given below
(preferentially by email).
