Are there not data protection issues about leaving books on an open reservations shelf with the patron's name on?

Subject: Self pick up holds or reservations
To summarize, I had a couple of replies from those who have implemented
this service and a few more from those who would like to.
Neither of those who provide this service reported any problems.
The following is a summary of the different ways that the materials can
be arranged and I have also included information picked up from looking
at web pages.
* Arranged according to pick up date and then by classmark.
* Arranged by student number in pamphlet boxes turned back to
front.
* Arranged by shelf mark, then students look for the last 4 digits
of their library card number which are on the holds slip.
* Arranged by first letter of surname then by the last 6 digits of
the student number (in number order)
Please feel free to contact me if you need any more information.
