Dear Charles (and List members),
I can answer that question for you.
The CILIP group on Linkedin was set up by a CILIP member, but is not
owned or 'governed' by any part of the CILIP governance structure.
Council do not object to the use of the CILIP logo in this instance,
as the 'blurb' for the group makes it clear that it is 'unofficial'.
Several members of Council and the Office of the President have joined
the group, just as we have other lists we individually feel reflect
our interests, such as Lis-Link and Lis-Profession.
As you know, there are an increasing number of ways for those involved
in the broader LIS sector to connect, and the CILIP Linkedin Group is
yet another.
Several CILIP Special Interest Groups (SIGs) have their own 'members
only' groups on Facebook and Linkedin, etc. These are 'official'
CILIP sites, but are run by the SIGS and Branche members themselves,
not by the CILIP administration, or Council.
I haven't looked at the Twitter CILIP group yet, but it is not one
owned or 'governed' by CILIP Council.
Best regards,
Caroline
