The main reason they do it despite the bad PR they get from some
people is their surprising success rate:
According to Sophos, spam effectiveness is between 0.01% and 0.1% of
those spammed, leading to goods sold through spam being about ~$4b
pa. So it actually *pays* for them... :-(
[the 9star case may be slightly different, in that it's not
*indiscriminate* spamming they are doing, but targeted, so their bad
PR is also targeted!]
