Applications are invited for the above post in one of the UK’s leading
civil engineering departments (ranked 4th in the UK’s latest RAE in
2008), which enjoys international excellence in both research and
teaching. The successful candidate will teach and research in a lively
and friendly environment with good technical and secretarial support,
as well as good networked computing facilities and laboratories. The
Lecturer will be a member of the Nottingham Centre for Geomechanics
(NCG – see: http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/ncg), which is one of the
UK’s largest and most active geotechnical groups with demonstrated
research strengths in geotechnics, rock mechanics and granular
mechanics.
Candidates should have an established record in
geotechnical/geoenvironmental engineering, preferably including
research and teaching. Prior experience or interest in geotechnical
centrifuge modelling will be an advantage, since the post will include
management of the beam centrifuge at Nottingham, and supervision of
researchers using this facility. The successful candidate will be
expected to develop an externally sponsored research programme and
contribute appropriately to teaching and academic administration
duties.
