Thanks Harriet but I am not after an SUV "solution" - they are indeed an abomination. I simply wish to know in terms of comparative impacts re typical meat versus typical SUV road use, if soemone ahs statistics to back up the vegetraian society's claim - or is it all a false nonsense?

One consideration is that is easy to eat less meat, less often, and choose more sustainable meat. Once you have a SUV it's probably your only car and you are going to use it, and I would guess the percentage you can reduce driving it is less than in the case of meateating. Harriet
