Dear ccp4bb readers,
Postdoctoral and PhD research positions are available at the Norwegian
Structural Biology Centre (NorStruct) in Tromsø, on projects related to
structure based anticancer drug discovery. The positions are to be
filled in the period July 2009 to Jan 2010, and are of 3 to 4 years
duration. Successful candidates will work on collaborative projects in
basic and applied studies of protein kinase inhibitors as anticancer
drugs, concentrating on crystallography, physical binding studies,
screening, theoretical modelling, and chemical synthesis. As applicants
would join a research group with diverse techniques and methodologies,
specialists from a broad range of specializations and/or interests will
be considered, particularly including applied mathematicians or
bioinformaticists.
For more information regarding the positions, see:
http://uit.no/norstruct/3202/#kinases
The positions will be based at the Departments of Chemistry, and will
involve close collaboration with the Department of Mathematics, the
Norwegian Structural Biology Center (NORSTRUCT, see
http://uit.no/norstruct/), the Norwegian Centre of Excellence for
Theoretical and Computational Chemistry (CTCC, see
http://www.ctcc.uit.no/ ) and the medical faculty in Tromsø, among other
national and international collaborators. The University of Tromsoe is
the world's northernmost university; Tromsoe is a growing center for
biotechnology and marine bioprospecting research and commercial
activities. Its surroundings offer a wide variety of opportunities in a
spectacular setting with a surprisingly mild--and warming--climate. See
e.g. http://www.destinasjontromso.no/ or
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tromsø for further information.
Please forward this to potential candidates.
Thanks, Rick
