Many thanks for the swift and helpful responses, which generally
suggested the V&A and Collections Link for costume preservation advice.
Regards
Neil

Subject: Dress Uniform storage
Good afternoon everyone, everywhere
I am the archivist/ collections manager/ all-round heritage drudge for
Trinity House lighthouse service. I'm hoping to accept a bequest from
the executor of a former Elder Brother's (Director) estate including 9
or 10 pieces of Full Dress uniform (including sword and medal ribbons),
but do not want to agree to take them on until I can be sure that I am
storing them properly.
Can the list advise on basic uniform storage practice? Storage area is
fairly typical, BS5454-friendly temperature/RH, lots of shelves filled
with acid-free archive boxes and so on.
I would also be looking to procure individual storage boxes, cases or
hanging bags. Can anybody suggest a good UK supplier? Preservation
Equipment don't have anything.
Kind regards,
Neil Jones
