(forwarded from the organiser)
Based on increasing requests, we have decided to extend the submission
deadline for 1st ICIBSE conference into March 31, 2009. Please see the detail
CFP as follows:
1st International Conference on the Interface between Statistics and
Engineering
July 13-15 (Mon.-Wed.) 2009
Beijing University of Technology (BJUT)
100 Piny-le-yuan, Chaoyang District, Beijing, 100124, China.
Conference Scope
Innovative creation, development, and dissemination of research ideas and
results on the interface between statistics and engineering for the support of
complex system design and operation, quality and reliability improvement, and
optimal proactive decision-making.
Our current data-rich environment provides unprecedented opportunities and
research challenges for both the statistics and engineering communities. The
development of a novel interface between statistical analysis methodology
and various engineering technologies and solutions is not only timely, but also
has a lasting impact on improving complex system operations both in
manufacturing and service industries. In order to promote strong
collaborations and multidisciplinary research between these two research
communities, this conference will bring together worldwide leaders,
researchers, developers, and practitioners to exchange research ideas and
results for future development of this emerging research area. The conference
will feature lectures, panel discussions, and paper presentations, along with an
active social program in the historic city of Beijing in China. The topics of
interests include, but are not limited to
applied statistics,
data mining and machining learning,
statistical data analysis integrated with engineering models,
quality and reliability engineering,
optimal decision making,
optimal manufacturing and service enterprise systems.
The interface between methodological development and applications are
encouraged. Examples of those applications include bioinformatics, information
processing and extraction, business decision-making, sensors and sensor
networks, production and manufacturing, nanotechnology, healthcare, and
financial and service operations.
Plenary Speakers
Susan Albin, Rutgers University
Jan Shi, Georgia Institute of Technology
Bill Meeker, Iowa State University
Jeff Wu, Georgia Institute of Technology
Venue
The event will take place at the attractive campus of Beijing University of
Technology (BJUT, http://www.bjut.edu.cn), located in the beautiful, historic
city of Beijing. The conference accommodation will be at Grand Gongda Hotel.
This is a new four-star hotel right on the campus of BJUT, and which was
built as an international hospitality center for the university. More information
can be found at the conference website.
