Research Associate - Medical Statistician (vacancy ref. 14569)
Applications are invited for a talented medical statistician to work in the
University of Bristol Department of Social Medicine: one of the UK's
leading centres for epidemiology and health services research. For more
information about the Department, please visit www.epi.bris.ac.uk.
You will contribute to two programmes of research, on meta-analysis and
evidence synthesis, and an evaluation of a prison drug treatment programme.
Work on meta-analysis in the Department of Social Medicine is both applied
and methodological: a new three-year methodological programme of work on
systematic reviews and meta-analyses of diagnostic test accuracy studies
has just been funded by the Medical Research Council/National Institute for
Health Research (MRC/NIHR) methodology programme. We have been funded by
the Home Office to evaluate the impact of prison drug treatment on overdose
death and treatment uptake after prison release, in collaboration with the
National Centre for Addiction. This is a multi-centre evaluation that will
involve the analysis of a large prison cohort study either exposed to
opiate substitution therapy or detoxified in prison. You will have a higher
degree in medical statistics or a closely related discipline, or equivalent
research experience.
You will be joining a successful team of medical statisticians,
epidemiologists and health services researchers within the Department of
Social Medicine. The appointment will be full-time on Grade I or Grade J of
the University's new grade structure and is offered on either a three year
fixed-term or permanent contract, depending on experience.
Grade : Level a - Level b in Pathway 2
Salary : £29,704-£37,651
