Indeed, the easiest way to create the mean image is to reslice during
realignment. Realign: Estimate & Reslice > Reslice Options > Resliced
images...depending on your other processing steps you may not want or
need to reslice all images, but you can just write out the mean image.
If you haven't done this during realignment, and don't want to re-do
that step, you can calculate them separately.
In ImCalc I don't this would be too hard: select all images, under
options set 'data matrix' to yes, and then have your expression be
'mean(X)'. Or, probably even easier, you can type spm_mean_ui.
