Dear all,
I'm writing in case someone in CLARE can help me identify potential
dissertation supervisors for three students in the MSc in Environment
and Development. Apologies to the humanities-oriented among us for
using the listerserve for this, but the three students are quite good
and I've struggled to find appropriate matches within GeoSciences thus
far. If you have any ideas at all, or are personally interested in any
of the topics, do please let me know.
Many thanks for any help!
Betsy
The students and topics are:
Discrimination in the labour market in Bolivia (Silvia Vizcarra Dattoli
- this will be a larger-scale economic analysis of existing data with
largely quantitative analysis, though the student would benefit from
advise on how to incorporate existing qualitative studies into the work)
An assessment of REDD as an inclusive mechanism in tackling climate
change in developing countries analysing Mexican forestry communities as
a case study (Ariadna Salvatierra - Ariadna worked with the Rainforest
Alliance before coming on the programme, so has experience with the
contexts and topics generally)
Environmental, social and economical impact on the community life in the
highlands of Huaraz after mining Barrick Misquichilca (Pierina) closed
operations (Ada Lis Rosell Villavicencio - Ada Lis is already in touch
with Tony Bebbington's team, so more important that the individual
supervising is generally interested in the topic)
