Hi Adam
I'd no idea so I asked our art curator, Ros Hardiman - she replies: "No, no information. The only suggestion I can make is for Adam to contact the Fine Art Trade Guild. Their membership includes print publishers as well as framers, also members concerned with the 'decorative' part of the print publishing world so they might be able to help."
Best wishes
John

Hi
I'd like to know if anyone can shed any light on the framed print (image
attached)...
It is by someone called Jean Yarwood and is titled 'Jay Walk', depicting
a woman walking a Dalmatian.
I've tried Google searches but have failed to really find out anything,
either about the artist or the print.
It is one of a set, because I remember my parents had several of them on
the livingroom wall of their first house in the early to mid '80s.
I'm pretty sure another in the set was titled 'Board Walk' and another
may have been called 'Cat Walk'; they all depicted a glamorous
power-dressed 1980s woman, walking different dogs (or maybe even a cat
on a leash, in the case of 'Cat Walk', my memory isn't quite that good!)
They were always framed in slim bright red frames, and red was the
predominant colour theme. I recall my parents had painted the skirting
boards etc in their livingroom in a similar pillar box red!
The reason I'd like to know more is because these prints stand out
vividly in my memory, I recall them being quite common, they were
certainly mass produced for a mass market, and probably sold cheaply
through a shop like Woolworth's. For me, they stand out as being the
1980s equivalent of the Tretchikoff prints of oriental green ladies that
were so ubiquitous on the livingroom walls of 1950s and 1960s suburban
Britain.
So, out of interest, does anyone have them in the collections, do you
recall them, did you even own them, and does anyone know anything about
this mysterious 'Jean Yarwood'?!
Thanks,
Adam
