About the Seminar
This presentation addresses a number of current shortcomings in modelling the behavioural responses of freight suppliers, in particular those associated with accommodating the complexities of supply chains, the insufficiency of data, and the use of inappropriate model forms. The data source used in this work come from the 2004 French shipper survey (ECHO), enriched with the information of physical and flow characteristics of individual shipments, characteristics of shippers and transport operators and especially organisational supply chain structures. The presentation shows the benefits of using advanced discrete choice models such as cross-nested logit in representing shippers' choice behaviour with regard to a number of logistical service attributes and supply chain structures.
About the Speaker
Mr Kriangkrai Arunotayanun is currently a PhD student in the Centre for Transport Studies (CTS) at Imperial College London. He holds an MEng degree in Civil Engineering (Transport) from Chiang Mai University, Thailand. Before joining CTS, he worked as a Policy and Plan analyst in the Office of Commission for the Management of Land Traffic, Thailand. His research interests are mainly concerned with the modelling of freight transport demand and supplier behaviour.
About the CTS Seminar Series
The CTS seminar series aims to facilitate discussion on current research topics in the transport field. Seminars are held jointly with our colleagues in the Centre for Transport Studies at University College. They are usually held on Wednesday afternoons at Imperial College London or University College. Seminars are free of charge and open to all interested parties. Booking is not required.
