Dear Michael,
The best thing to do would be to let SPM manage its own path. For
that, just add the main SPM folder to the path, but before running
your script either start SPM with 'spm eeg' in the command line or put
spm('defaults','EEG'); as the first command in your script.
Your problems with getset are a little worrying. What Matlab version
are you using? Note that SPM will not work on versions below 7.1 and
some features of SPM MEEG need a newer version (I think the minimum is
7.2, but 7.4 will definitely work).
