Dear Adam,
You are trying to use SPM8b with files in SPM5 format. We are in the
process of transition from SPM5 to SPM8 and unfortunately the
multimodal tutorial has not been updated yet.
You have two options:
1) Convert e_eeg.mat file to SPM8 format (using the 'Convert' button)
before proceeding. With MEG things are somewhat more problematic but
if you are just interested in EEG, this should work OK although I have
not tried it myself.
2) Use the auditory mismatch negativity tutorial
http://www.fil.ion.ucl.ac.uk/spm/data/eeg_mmn/ that has been updated
for SPM8.
Best,
Vladimir
