I was wondering if anyone could comment on this idea in anyway and
welcome is comment.
Trying to solve the problem of continuity in a verse novel I thought
that what could happen is with a series of collaged and disconnected
images, in this case usually landscape images which may appear to be
lyric poems, all with a title, dialogues could in some way weave in
between the collaged image poems pulling it together as a continuous
narrative.
So, part one of the novel can start with laying out a tableau followed
by part two as above. Also, using dialogue as casual spoken english
which are clause chains or at least what passes for clause chains in
verse. While laying out a tableau is conventional enough the second
aspect, from memory, I can't think of any examples of and so am
uncertain as to what problems may need to be prepared for, assuming one
must at least anticipate some difficulties. This suggests naming
characters as well and building characters with mimesis as much as
possible. I am thinking to avoid diegesis or telling since I suspect
that mimesis can be, perhaps obviously, a more effective technique for
immanent critique. (Diegesis can become subject to minetic critique, of
course and the reverse, esp given that following Aristotle diegesis is
narrative and the lyric/narrative distinction can rest on this.)
Usually, when you get so far and the collected mess looks like it may
work, this is the time to think more about a structure of some sort and
that makes writing easier.
